20 years ago this month, I lost my dear father. Just before his passing I was training to run a half marathon. I never did complete that run that year.
Fast forward to today, I am running my 4th half marathon this October as I have been running the half marathon every 5 years in memory of him. The first run, I ran solo. The second run, I ran with a friend who wanted to complete a half herself. Last time, I ran raising money for the Liver Foundation for that was what my father went into the hospital for (a liver transplant).
This time, I will be raising money for the Canadian Blood Services as that is what caused his death in the end - internal bleeding with no way to open him up again for he had just done 2 major surgeries back to back (heart which was only discovered when they wanted to do the liver tranplant and then the actual liver transplant).
Hence this reason for this message. As I start training (so out of shape), I hope you can support me with a donation in my fundraising goal of raising $20,000 for the Canadian Blood Services all in memory of my dad, Fook Toon (Jack) Gee. It's an ambitous goal but sometimes you have to aim big to see what you can achieve.
I sometimes wonder if there was unlimited blood supply, would my dad still be with us today.
If you can donate that would be much appreciated. Nothing is too little or too small. And you get a tax receipt :)
Thank you for considering.
Wish me luck or come find me at the race on Oct 16th in the Toronto Waterfront Run.
xoxo
