Welcome to our fundraising page.
In March 2022, we held the first of what we continue to intend to be an annual blood drive in Ben's memory. This year, we have committed to filling blood donation spots on March 18, 2023, at the Canadian Blood Services clinic at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill.
You can join our blood drive by visiting myaccount.blood.ca, selecting 'Partners' and joining our team called 'In Memory of Ben'. We encourage everyone to fill the time slots on that day, but otherwise find another time and location that is convenenient for you, wherever you are in the world.
If you can't donate blood, we welcome financial donations. Last year, we matched all financial donations and raised just over $18,000; we intend to match again this year.
As a reminder, we lost our beloved son and brother, Ben, in August 2020 to the horrible effects of leukemia and a blood clotting disorder. The availability of blood products were the only hope to sustain him until treatment could take effect. Ben was given massive amounts of blood products, but unfortunately, the disease was too advanced.
We are keenly aware of the importance of the availability of blood, plasma and stem cells. The drive this year continues our commitment to help CBS and to encourage support for blood services everywhere, as well as being a continuing rememberence of Ben.
We thank you for visiting this page and for your giving. This is truly a community effort and one in which we are all reliant on each other so that blood products are available whenever they are needed for whoever needs them.
We are championing this campaign to raise funds in support of Canadian Blood Services. Your support will play an integral role in connecting patients with lifesaving blood and blood products where and when they need them. By making a financial gift, you become an integral part of Canada’s Lifeline.
Did you know?
- Every 60 seconds, someone in Canada needs blood.
- Over 80 diseases can be treated with stem cell transplants.
- At any given moment, approximately 4,500 Canadians are waiting for organ transplants.
- Canadian Blood Services needs over 100,000 new donors this year to keep pace with demand for lifesaving products and services.
Financial donations help Canadian Blood Services to strengthen its national programs and initiatives for blood, stem cells, organ and tissue donations, and research and innovation.
