Why should I fundraise?

No matter where you are in the world, you can make difference through financial giving for patients in Canada who are counting on blood and blood products. Hosting a community fundraising initiative in support of Canada's Lifeline is a way unite a group with the shared goal of transforming patient lives.

"Canadian Blood Services plays a key role in our health-care system and our goal is that fundraising events like ours helps to strengthen their efforts to help patients, today and in the future."

— Dominic Vani, Matt Amyotte, and Mario Vani, fundraising volunteers of the White Knight Construction golf tournament

Whether you're organizing an athletic tournament, a neighbourhood birthday party, a corporate challenge or simply a personal milestone, you can easily integrate a fundraising component into your plans to support patients. This platform is here to make it easy for you to create your online fundraiser and rally your friends, family, colleagues and community together to help save and improve lives.

Why is fundraising important for Canadian Blood Services?

Community fundraisers help save lives just like blood and plasma donors do. Canadian Blood Services receives operational funding from the provincial and territorial ministries of health (except Quebec), but community fundraisers and charitable donations enable us to do more to support patients above and beyond operational funding.

It's thanks to financial supporters, for example, that we funded award-winning research, bursaries for young leaders helping to recruit new blood and plasma donors, awareness initiatives encouraging stem cell donation — and so much more.
